Hand built, what does this mean to you? Well, here at MJ Guitars it means exactly that, Special Hands On Attention! All of our instruments are built by seasoned lutherie's with well over 45 years of combined experience. Each instrument, before leaving the factory is thoroughly inspected to the highest quality.

Many wonder how we come up with some of our designs. Well, it's not always easy, in fact we often have to draw up the instrument 5 or 6 times before the first instrument is even built.
And the finalizing process can get intense from time to time.
The entire Mirage line is equipped with sound chambers in the body which enhances the tone as well as reduces the weight.
After carving the majority of the top with our duplicarver it is then.... (this machine was hand made by Ethan and Mark)
hand scraped and sanded to perfection.
Every cut and route is measured with calipers for a precision tolerance.
We could use the standard trussrods that many companies use but instead we have chosen the 2-way trussrod system. This trussrod is an anchorless neck adjusting system that can correct a neck with either an upbow or backbow, and it does so evenly through the lenght of the neck.
Our fingerboards have to be leveled to perfection so that the action is at a constant heights all the way up the fingerboard, this makes for a fast and comfortable fingerboard.
Our necks are then hand carved for that perfect feel and fit.
We feel, because your hand is on the fret board most of the time, it should be one of the most comfortable areas on the guitar. That is why we spend extra time on the dressing of the frets.
Notice the level of intensity used...
Here at MJ Guitars we take pride in our quality finishes. We go through several steps from raw guitars to a flawless finish, in fact our finishes are so recognized that other manufactures have asked for our techniques. Finishes curtesy of the Michelin Man.
All our guitars get a nickel conductive coating in the control cavity for noise reduction. Also notice the metal inserts placed in the body for fasting the back plate on.
Every guitar is setup and ready to play from the moment you pull it our of the box!
And for one of our favorite parts of the job we thoroughly test and inspect all instruments before they leave the factory to make sure that nothing but the best is sent to you.
We have a complete machine shop ready to do all our tooling and custom work. Working with such close tolerances helps for better quality.
No guitar shop is complete without a pinball machine.
