Why do we chamber the MJ Montana Big Sky model?
Chambering cuts down on the weight making it easier to play over longer periods of time. Whenever you reduce the weight you decrease the mass, which produces a lower frequency fundamental tone, but provide areas that create over tones that shape and amplify the fundamental tone to produce a more pleasing tone both unplugged and amplified. |

Why does MJ Guitars use a fur top on the MJ Montana Big Sky model?
Fir is a conifer like spruce and cedar and is considered a tone wood. It is more difficult to work with then spruce or cedar but fur is indigenous to Montana so it is fitting we use it on our MJ Montana model. |

What kind of Truss rod system does MJ Guitars use on the MJ Montana Big Sky model?
We use a double expanding truss rod with easy access to the adjusting nut with out removing the neck or strings. With this truss rod system a forward or backward neck bow can easily be straightened. This truss rod system might well be one of the most expensive, but we feel it is one of the industries best so we spare no expense to insure reliability. |

Is the MJ Montana Big Sky model comfortable to play?
It is very comfortable to play. It is lightweight because of the chambering. It is well balanced when strapped on, and it is comfortable to play while sitting as a result of the belly cut. The heel of the MJ Montana Big Sky model is cut away to reduce the mass making upper register playing a breeze. The neck is slightly wider at the nut making for wider string spacing and the full “C” carve make it comfortable and fast. |

MJ Montana Model
The MJ Montana Model incorporates all the same craftsmanship and quality as the MJ Montana Big Sky model minus some of the extras. We start off with a poplar body blank and chamber it to reduce the weight and enhance the tone, and then we add a western maple top and carve it to perfection. The hard maple neck and rosewood fingerboard are set and glued into the body making it very stable with excellent transfer of vibrations that enhance the harmonics. The MJ Montana Model has a arm curve for added comfort. This guitar is guaranteed to inspire. |
